The short version: want this year’s OLED? Wait for Black Friday. Just want a great picture? Last year’s LG C5 is already cheaper than this year’s “sale.”
The LG C6 55" is the 2026 TV most people will actually buy. It listed at $1,997 in March. Prime Day got it to $1,600. Today it is $1,400.
That sounds good until you look at last year. The outgoing 55" hit $1,050 on Black Friday, and never really went lower. If the C6 follows that path, you are still $350 early.
Last year, in one chart
I tracked Amazon prices on the LG C5 55" from launch through this summer.
- March 2025 list: $1,997
- Black Friday week: $1,050
- All-time low after that: $1,047 (three dollars)
- Prime Day 2026: $1,099, then it bounced
- Today: $1,300
Waiting past Black Friday on the 55" did not pay.
The 65" C5 was a bit different. Black Friday was $1,247. It later hit $1,100 in June. About $150 extra if you could wait six months. The 42" did the same, $870 at BF, $799 in May.
So: the popular 55" is a Black Friday buy. Bigger and smaller sizes can still dip later, but you are waiting a long time for a little money.
This year’s C6
LG launched the C6 at the same list prices as the C5. Five months in, Amazon has cut them, but they are still well above last November’s C5 prices.
- 55" C6 — $1,400 now. Last year’s 55" was $1,050 at Black Friday.
- 65" C6 — $1,800 now. Last year’s 65" was $1,247 at Black Friday.
- 42" C6 — $1,200 now, and it has barely moved. Last year’s 42" went to $799.
Same $2,700 list. The old 65" crashed at Black Friday. The new one is still $1,800. That remaining $400–$500 is the Black Friday bet.
Samsung S90H
Samsung’s 2026 OLED is the same calendar, slightly less generous.
The 65" is $200 more than the C6 and off its own low. I would not buy it this week.
What I would do
- This year’s 55" or 65". Wait for Black Friday. $1,400 / $1,800 is a real cut, not the floor.
- Any OLED, cheaper now. Last year’s 55" C5 or 65" C5.
- A 42" for a desk. Wait, or grab last year’s C5 42" near $800.
